Russia could face forced cuts to its oil output due to large-scale Ukrainian drone attacks on its energy infrastructure. Monopoly company Transneft has warned producers that they will likely have to reduce output in the near future due to restrictions on oil storage capacity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noted that since August, Ukraine has significantly intensified attacks on Russian oil refineries and ports, trying to undermine the Kremlin’s military potential and reduce its financial revenues.<\/p>\n

According to sources, at least 10 Russian refineries were hit, reducing the country’s refining capacity by almost 20%<\/strong> at times. Important export hubs – the ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk on the Baltic – were also damaged.<\/p>\n

The oil and gas sector has provided from a third to a half of the Russian federal budget revenues over the past decade, so any reduction in production could seriously affect the state’s financial stability.<\/p>\n

While Russian authorities have not publicly acknowledged the extent of the damage, sources told Reuters that Transneft, which transports more than 80% of all Russian oil, has restricted the acceptance of crude for storage in its system. This creates a risk that producers will not be able to sell the oil they have extracted, forcing them to reduce production.<\/p>\n

As you know, New Zealand has joined the European Union initiative and is also lowering the price ceiling for Russian crude oil.<\/a><\/p>\n

Earlier, the EU officially lowered the price limit for Russian oil<\/a> : the new \u201cceiling\u201d is $47.6 per barrel instead of the previous $60. The decision was made in the context of the 18th package of sanctions against Russia and is aimed at limiting the revenues of the aggressor country.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, as part of the sanctions, Japan lowered the maximum price for oil<\/a> from $60 to $47.6 per barrel.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Russian federal budget in August received about 35% less oil and gas revenues<\/a> compared to August last year.<\/p>\n
