State Border Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko denied rumors that the father of Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian woman killed in the United States, was denied permission to leave Ukraine. He said that the man received assistance in processing documents and has already arrived in the United States to say goodbye to his daughter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noted that the State Border Service of Ukraine responded to information circulating in a number of media outlets, including with reference to foreign publications, about an alleged travel ban on the father of Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian woman killed in the United States.<\/p>\n

Department spokesman Andriy Demchenko called these reports “absurd” and emphasized that the man had not received any refusals at checkpoints and had not previously submitted relevant documents for departure.<\/p>\n

According to Demchenko, the border guards, on the contrary, helped the deceased’s father with the necessary paperwork.<\/p>\n

“For now, I can state that he did leave Ukraine the other day on humanitarian grounds, and he is being provided with consular assistance. And, in fact, he has already arrived in the United States of America, where he will be able to say goodbye to his daughter,” the spokesman said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the British tabloid Daily Mail reported that Stanislav Zarutsky was unable to attend his daughter’s funeral in North Carolina due to a travel ban for men subject to military service.<\/p>\n

The Embassy of Ukraine in the United States, in turn, confirmed that the family of Iryna Zarutska is being provided with all necessary assistance, including paperwork. It is also known that the local community has raised over $20,000 to support the deceased’s relatives. Iryna’s funeral was held in the United States at the decision of her parents.<\/p>\n

Demchenko called on the media not to manipulate the tragedy and to disseminate only verified information in order to avoid additional pain for the family of the deceased.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the father of Iryna Zarutska, who was killed in the US, was unable to attend her funeral in Charlotte<\/a> due to rules prohibiting men of draft age from leaving Ukraine.<\/p>\n
