Co-chair of the European Solidarity faction Iryna Gerashchenko, during her speech in the Verkhovna Rada, called on the authorities to pay attention to the glaring problems of internally displaced persons. She emphasized that next year’s budget should be directed primarily to providing for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and internally displaced persons.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yesterday, European Solidarity had a meeting with IDPs, several hundred people. It was a very difficult conversation and a depressing impression that people who, due to their pro-Ukrainian patriotic position, left for territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities were left alone with their problems. Due to manipulations with payments, millions of people today are left not just without work, without housing, but also without a single penny to support their children and family,” said Gerashchenko.<\/p>\n

“In the best case, someone goes abroad, where our partners are still providing this social package, and in the worst case, they return to the occupied territories, because at least there is housing there. Do you understand what a nightmare the authorities are driving millions of Ukrainians into for their pro-Ukrainian position?” the MP was indignant.<\/p>\n

“We demand from the authorities, from the government to hear who is responsible for this? What is the policy among these plans of indomitability and resilience. What is the policy of supporting IDPs? Problems with payments, problems with salaries, problems have already begun with evacuated universities, which, by the way, were not there from 2014 to 2019, when our team was engaged in this evacuation and support,” Gerashchenko stated.<\/p>\n

“The 2026 budget reduces these payments. The most catastrophic situation is with the elderly, who will never earn money for new housing. And they are horrified to think that in six months they will be evicted from shelters. Shelters – it seems that local authorities should deal with this, because there are many abandoned kindergartens, sanatoriums where these shelters can be made. So you robbed local authorities, you steal billions from them for a special fund, from where you distribute them for cashback,” the deputy noted.<\/p>\n

“If this continues, the country will remain a territory without Ukrainians, because someone will leave, and someone simply will not live to see the implementation of the invincibility plan. Therefore, our team will demand clear priorities from the government in the 2026 budget. And these are not billion-dollar salaries to everyone you give – to the marathon or to your advisors. This should be a policy of security, defense, protection of the pro-Ukrainian population, IDPs,” emphasized Iryna Gerashchenko.<\/p>\n

“The same thing is happening with the army. Every day we have a lot of information about key problems with ammunition, with drones. Again, all this is at the expense of funds, volunteers, but not the state. We need to move on to professional, responsible work,” Gerashchenko urged.<\/p>\n
