Another repatriation of the bodies of Ukrainian defenders took place on September 18. The remains of 1,000 fallen servicemen who gave their lives for the independence and freedom of our state were returned to Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.<\/p>\n

In the near future, law enforcement investigators, together with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations to establish the identities of the deceased. After the identification is completed, the bodies will be handed over to the families for a dignified burial.<\/p>\n

The headquarters emphasized that the process of returning the bodies is complex and lengthy, but the state continues to do everything possible to ensure that every soldier returns home – alive or with due honor.<\/p>\n

Work on the repatriation of the bodies of the deceased continues continuously, in close cooperation with international partners and with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on August 29, a state-wide event took place in the village of Markhalivka in the Kyiv region – the official opening of the National Military Memorial Cemetery<\/a> . This space will become the main place of honoring Ukrainian defenders who gave their lives for the country’s freedom.<\/p>\n
