A large-scale network of more than 20 underground gambling establishments was exposed in the capital. They operated in different districts of Kyiv without any permits and only allowed “their” clients. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized hundreds of pieces of equipment, cash, and documents. The organizers have already been notified of the suspicion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the press services of the Prosecutor General’s Office<\/a> and the Bureau of Economic Security<\/a> .<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the illegal gambling halls operated in a secretive manner. The establishments were carefully camouflaged, and only verified visitors had access to them.<\/p>\n

“Detectives conducted more than 20 simultaneous searches in the premises where the gambling halls operated, as well as in the homes of the suspects,” the BEB noted.<\/p>\n\t

As a result, about 200 computers, cash, mobile phones, and draft records were seized.<\/p>\n\t

The organizer and accomplices have already been notified of suspicion of illegal organization of gambling as part of an organized group (Part 3 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 203-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The prosecutor’s office has filed a petition with the court to impose preventive measures.<\/p>\n

The investigation is currently ongoing. Law enforcement officers are identifying other individuals involved in the illegal business.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that earlier, by order of the State Special Communications Service , 133 illegal online casinos were closed in Ukraine<\/a> .<\/p>\n

As is known, on April 20, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted a decision of the National Security and Defense Council on countering the negative consequences of online gambling. Among other things, the decision recommended that law enforcement agencies strengthen measures to respond to violations of Ukrainian legislation in this area.<\/a><\/p>\n
