Russia is increasing the pace of air strikes, combining the use of missiles and attack drones, and is seeking to increase their number to 1,000 per day. At the same time, Kyiv and Moscow are not negotiating an end to the war – contacts continue only on humanitarian issues.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov in an interview with CNN.<\/p>\n

“Russia is trying to increase the number of attacks – up to 1,000 per day. By the end of the year, I think it will expand them,” Umerov said.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the aggressor has not achieved any strategic goal, and the situation at the front remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“Our strategy is not to allow them to maneuver. Even if their media claims that the Russians are advancing, they have been stopped: in the northern direction, in the Sumy region, in the Zaporizhia region, and in the Pokrovsk region,” he added.<\/p>\n

Answering questions about possible negotiations with the Kremlin, the NSDC Secretary clarified that currently they are limited only to humanitarian issues.<\/p>\n

“Now we are continuing the humanitarian part, where we are releasing prisoners of war,” Umerov noted.<\/p>\n

According to him, bilateral and trilateral meetings involving Ukraine, European partners, and the United States are expected in the near future.<\/p>\n

“So, at this stage, I think we’re waiting for the trilateral, bilateral meetings to happen,” he added.<\/p>\n

By the way, US President Donald Trump insists that Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin hold a personal meeting before possible trilateral talks<\/a> . Only after that is he ready to join the negotiations in a broader format.<\/p>\n

Trump has previously stated that a peace deal with Russia could allow Ukraine to regain much of its territory and resume peaceful life<\/a> . At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the return of Crimea are unlikely, and the participation of the American military in security guarantees is not being considered.<\/p>\n

In addition, according to him, the United States, together with European partners , is creating a working group to prepare a draft of security guarantees for Ukraine<\/a> . It will be headed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.<\/p>\n
