The Rosgvardia, which reports directly to Russian President Vladimir Putin, will receive its own tank units. It already has about 400,000 people, and the expansion of heavy weapons significantly changes its role on the front and in the rear. Putin is preparing to do anything to protect his regime.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to<\/a> the UK Ministry of Defence, the head of the Rosgvardia, Viktor Zolotov, who was previously Putin’s personal bodyguard, confirmed the formation of tank units. Unlike the army, these forces are directly controlled by the Kremlin.<\/p>\n

The main task of the Rosgvardia is to maintain internal security and protect the Putin regime. Units of the Guard are deployed in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where they are responsible for rear security and sometimes participate in battles, although they are not sufficiently trained for this.<\/p>\n

The UK Ministry of Defense recalled that Putin made the decision to create tank units after the Wagner PMC coup in 2023. Despite Zolotov’s statements about the “successful completion of tasks” during those events, there is actually no evidence of the effectiveness of the Russian Guard.<\/p>\n

“The creation of tank units is a significant militarization of the Rosgvardia, increasing its ability to counter military and paramilitary threats. It also demonstrates the Kremlin’s continued confidence in the loyalty of the forces that provide protection for the regime,” the British intelligence report said.<\/p>\n

Previously, the UK Ministry of Defense reported in its summary that Russian losses during the war amounted to more than 3,600 tanks and almost 8,000 armored vehicles<\/a> .<\/p>\n

At the same time, since the invasion of Ukraine , Russia has already lost about a million soldiers<\/a> killed and wounded.<\/p>\n
