Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is ready to leave his post after the war ends.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said<\/a> this in an interview with Axios.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zelenskyy assured that he has no plans to hold the presidency in peacetime. According to him, he understands that people expect a leader with a new mandate to make the decisions necessary for long-term peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy goal is to end the war, not to continue running for office,\u201d the head of state emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the president added that he would ask parliament to hold elections provided that a ceasefire is reached between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the fact that, in his opinion, the current security situation and the Constitution put the vote at risk, elections are still possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

“During the ceasefire, I think security may make it possible to hold elections. It is possible,” Zelenskyy summed up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, the president stated that Ukraine could hold presidential elections<\/a> if a ceasefire is established.<\/p>\n

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada’s consideration of the draft State Budget for 2026 showed that the authorities are “preparing for elections, not for victory.”<\/a><\/p>\n
