The day before, on September 24, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted 4 Russian aircraft.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the press service of the department.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is noted that two Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers and two Su-35 fighters were in the Alaskan air defense identification zone.<\/span><\/p>\n

To intercept them, the command scrambled an E-3 long-range radar detection aircraft, four F-16 fighters, and four KC-135 tanker aircraft.<\/span><\/p>\n

NORAD noted that the Russian planes remained in international airspace and did not fly into the territory of the United States or Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n

Such actions by Russian aviation have been observed repeatedly, however, they are not considered a direct threat.<\/span><\/p>\n

The North American Aerospace Defense Command explained that an ADIZ is an area of international airspace that requires mandatory identification of all aircraft for national security purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, Estonia stated that three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated its airspace<\/a> and were there for 12 minutes.<\/p>\n

The Estonian Defense Ministry later reported that the incursion of Russian MiG-31 fighters into the country’s airspace was deliberate<\/a> .<\/p>\n

By the way, on Sunday, September 21, NATO scrambled two German fighter jets to intercept a Russian reconnaissance plane<\/a> over the Baltic Sea.<\/p>\n
