The Russian authorities plan to extend the ban on gasoline exports until the end of 2025, as well as introduce new restrictions on the export of diesel fuel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, quoted by Russian state media.<\/p>\n

According to him, the export of diesel fuel will be allowed only for producers, while traders who are not directly involved in its production will not be able to export the product until at least the end of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a solution \u2014 we will extend the ban on the export of gasoline until the end of the year. We are also introducing restrictions on the export of diesel for non-producers,\u201d Novak said.<\/p>\n

This decision comes against the backdrop of a noticeable decline in the capabilities of Russian oil refineries caused by Ukrainian drone strike operations.<\/p>\n

At least 16 of Russia\u2019s 38 refineries have been attacked since early August, some repeatedly. Analysts at Energy Aspects estimate that these attacks have reduced Russia\u2019s total refining capacity by more than 1 million barrels per day, as previously reported by the Financial Times.<\/p>\n

The most recent examples are the shutdown of oil refining at the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery (Samara Region), the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant, and one of the units of the Kirishinefteorgsintez plant near St. Petersburg.<\/p>\n

Despite his traditionally restrained rhetoric, Novak acknowledged that the domestic market was facing a shortage of petroleum products. However, he said the situation was \u201cunder control\u201d and the shortage was planned to be covered by reserves and stocks.<\/p>\n

As reported, new rules for trading diesel fuel came into effect in Russia<\/a> on Tuesday, September 23. Putin is trying to contain the rapid rise in fuel prices by introducing new restrictions for exchange participants and price controls. The shortage arose due to systematic attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian oil refineries.<\/p>\n
