This is possible only if the US and Europe adopt a number of military and financial decisions.

This was reported by military columnist Hamish de Bretton-Gordon in an article for The Telegraph .

The publication notes that Trump, speaking at the UN General Assembly, called Russia a “paper tiger” and stated that Ukraine is capable of returning all occupied lands. These words can become reality, but only if Kyiv’s allies take decisive action.

Columnist Hamish de Bretton-Gordon identified three key factors:

Establishing a no-fly zone. According to him, NATO should introduce a no-fly zone at least over the western part of Ukraine. This will allow for reliable protection of civilian objects from Russian strikes and will allow Ukrainian air defense forces to move to the east. There they will be able to support the offensive actions of the Armed Forces. The expert emphasized that the alliance has enough F-35 fighters to accomplish this task even without entering Ukrainian airspace, reducing the risk of a direct collision with Russian aircraft.

Supply of long-range missiles. The second step should be to transfer to Ukraine a much larger number of high-precision guided missiles capable of hitting targets at considerable depths in the territory of the Russian Federation. At the same time, all restrictions on their use should be lifted. Bretton-Gordon emphasized that Ukrainian drones and missiles of domestic production have already proven their effectiveness, but access to Western technologies and larger-scale arms supplies would allow Ukraine to significantly intensify strikes on strategic Russian targets.

Tough sanctions against the Kremlin. The third element of success is the full implementation of the sanctions policy. It is not enough to simply announce restrictions – they must be comprehensive and effective. This will allow us to maximally undermine Russia’s economic capabilities to continue the war.

The author emphasized that without such steps, Europe risks “drowning in half-baked solutions.” If the allies show determination and go all-in, Ukraine will have every chance of returning its territories.

Bretton-Gordon warned that if the US position changed or Europe remained passive, the war could drag on for decades.

“If the West does not clear Ukrainian skies of drones and missiles, the conflict could last another generation or two,” he warned.

The expert also drew attention to Trump’s rhetoric, which called Russia a “paper tiger.” In his opinion, this expression, borrowed from a Chinese political dictionary, very aptly describes the real state of affairs in the Kremlin, where aggressive statements are not supported by sufficient effectiveness in war.

Also, Trump’s recent change in position on Ukraine was influenced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. She convinced the American president to increase support for Kyiv, but, as the publication notes, this required significant efforts from Europe.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump sharply criticized Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, saying that despite massive attacks on Ukrainian cities, Moscow is suffering reputational losses and making almost no progress on the front.

The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the American leader supports strikes on Russian targets – energy and oil facilities.

By the way, US President Donald Trump said that the country, with the support of the European Union, can return its territory to its original form.

As is known, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and American leader Donald Trump held a press conference and made a number of statements about the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the purchase of Russian oil, and the Kremlin’s provocations.

As a reminder, the meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump has ended in New York . According to the Ukrainian president, it was good and “the most complete” compared to all previous ones.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine is capable of returning all the territories it lost after 2014.
