Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that a new branch of the Air Force is being formed – “Unmanned Air Defense Systems”. These are units armed with interceptor drones and reinforced with radar and electronic warfare systems, which have already shown high efficiency in the fight against Russian “shaheeds”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said this while talking to journalists.<\/p>\n

“I mean domestic and foreign-made interceptor drones that destroy “shaheeds” with high efficiency \u2014 70% or more [\u2026]. Therefore, units equipped with these interceptor drones are being created and expanded, as well as a command that will deal with these drones,” the commander-in-chief said.<\/p>\n

It is noted that the idea is to allocate a separate branch of the Air Force, which specializes in the detection, interception and destruction of enemy unmanned platforms. The new units will combine several elements: strike and interceptor UAVs, a network of radar stations for early detection, control complexes and electronic warfare means to disrupt enemy control channels.<\/p>\n

According to Syrsky, already operational interceptor drones demonstrate high performance \u2014 about 70% of targets destroyed in relevant operations \u2014 and therefore their use is becoming widespread.<\/p>\n

The creation of a new type involves the formation of units, training centers and command links that will coordinate the actions of interceptors with other elements of air defense. Syrsky reported that additional radar stations are being deployed, as well as an increase in the number of relevant units. This means the need to train drone pilots, UAV operation and repair specialists, electronic warfare operators and analysts who will work with sensor data.<\/p>\n

For the comprehensive protection of Ukrainian cities, in addition to unmanned interceptors, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasing other capabilities: they are increasing the number of combat helicopters, considering the acquisition of light-engine aircraft equipped with machine guns to combat mass UAV attacks, and continue to strengthen the direction of electronic warfare. This combination of means should create a multi-level defense line – from detection to final defeat.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, stated the need to develop new solutions in the field of unmanned systems<\/a> . The reason is that the enemy is adapting to Ukrainian methods and actively imitating successful technologies.<\/p>\n

Let us remind you that the Russians are intensifying their air strikes on Ukrainian cities, as they are rapidly increasing the production of attack drones.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, between 2022 and 2025 , Russia allocated at least $3 billion to develop its own drone industry<\/a> , in particular, kamikaze attack drones of the Shahed type.<\/p>\n
