Israeli historian and publicist Yuval Noah Harari said that Ukraine has every reason to consider itself a winner in the war with Russia. He recalled that despite the large-scale invasion of 2022, the Russian Federation has not been able to achieve any strategic goal, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to narrow its control over territories and dominate the sea and air.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Harari stressed that the Kremlin’s main goal – the complete subjugation of Ukraine and the elimination of its sovereignty – has failed. Today, Russia controls less territory than in August 2022, and has not captured a single strategically important city. Harari compared the losses of the Russian army to the senseless victims of the First World War.<\/p>\n

He also emphasized that at sea and in the sky , Russia is in a defensive position<\/strong> : Ukrainian drones and missiles have pushed the fleet to remote bays, and enemy aircraft are avoiding the front line. For comparison, the historian gave the example of Israel’s war against Iran in 2025, where the Israeli Air Force established control of the sky in a day and a half without any losses.<\/p>\n

The author also emphasized the indecision of the West, which in the first months of the war limited itself to helmets and bulletproof vests, fearing to provide Ukraine with serious weapons. According to him, a complete victory for Kyiv would have been possible as early as 2022\u20132023, if assistance had been provided in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

Harari recalled that the only state that directly intervened in the war was North Korea, which supported Russia. Ukraine, on the other hand, fought alone, only receiving material assistance from its allies.<\/p>\n

The historian also drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian army has become the strongest military asset in Europe. He emphasized that even the United States has something to learn from Kyiv – both from the experience of conducting combat operations and from the development of the defense industry. This, according to Harari, explains why Donald Trump has recently become more supportive of Ukraine, because “he likes to support winners.”<\/p>\n

At the same time, the issue of Ukraine’s return to the 1991 borders, according to experts, remains open and may become possible only in the event of the collapse of Russia and its political system, which will resemble the scenarios of the collapse of the USSR or the empire in 1917.<\/p>\n
