Finnish President Alexander Stubb said he would not order the immediate shooting down of unknown objects that might violate the country’s airspace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He stated<\/a> this in an interview with CNN.<\/p>\n

According to him, Russia is waging a hybrid war against Europe, testing states’ reactions to various provocations. Specifically, he mentioned incidents involving damage to submarine cables in the Baltic Sea.<\/p>\n

In such cases, it’s important to remain calm and build a defense to prevent similar incidents from recurring. The key is to avoid overreacting emotionally,” Stubb emphasized.<\/p>\n

Responding to a question about the US position on calling on NATO countries to shoot down intruding air targets, the Finnish president emphasized that everything would depend on the specific situation and the decision of the air force.<\/p>\n

He also noted that Washington’s statements are deterrent: “First we tried the carrot, now President Trump is showing off the stick. His words about shooting down planes are part of this strategy.”<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that unidentified drones were observed flying<\/a> in Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Norway, and Finland, some of which flew near military installations and strategic infrastructure.<\/p>\n

On Friday, September 26, several unknown drones were spotted over the northern German<\/a> state of Schleswig-Holstein. Schleswig-Holstein borders Denmark, where drones have been spotted three times this week. Local authorities have launched an official investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, operations at Aalborg Airport in North Jutland were previously temporarily suspended<\/a> after unknown drones appeared in its airspace.<\/p>\n

On the night of September 23 , Gardermoen International Airport in the Norwegian capital was forced to temporarily suspend operations<\/a> after unknown drones were detected in the airspace above the airfield.<\/p>\n
