Ukraine is counting on receiving not only American F-16 fighters, but also French Mirage and Swedish Gripen.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Ivan Havrylyuk, in an interview<\/a> with the BBC.<\/p>\n

According to him, additional deliveries of F-16 aircraft, as well as French Mirage and Swedish Gripen, are “expected.”<\/p>\n

When journalists asked for clarification regarding the timing and number of aircraft, he replied: “Come on, when you see them in the air over Ukraine, then you will understand.”<\/p>\n

When it came to specific types of aircraft, Havrylyuk emphasized: “Practically, you named the nomenclature correctly, but I will not go into detail about when, what, which one.”<\/p>\n

The general also explained that since the summer, weapons deliveries from the United States have been carried out under the new PURL program, under which European allies and Canada purchase weapons from the United States and transfer them to Kyiv. The first deliveries under this mechanism have already arrived in Ukraine. However, the volume of aid has decreased.<\/p>\n

“Previously, under presidential aid packages (PDA), we received aid from the US rhythmically and in larger volumes. Today’s system, when European countries purchase weapons for us from the Americans, requires a certain amount of time. The more links in the chain, the more time is lost,” Havrylyuk noted.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Ukraine is increasing its own production. The factories cover about 40% of the front’s needs, in particular, most kamikaze drones are made in Ukraine. However, the country remains almost completely dependent on partners in the air defense system sector, so such systems remain a priority in requests.<\/p>\n

Havrylyuk also did not rule out that strikes deep into Russia with long-range missiles could weaken its military industry and force it to enter into negotiations.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Belgium previously presented a large-scale support package for Ukraine<\/a> . The country will allocate 1 billion euros annually, provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, and help restore infrastructure.<\/p>\n

At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the number of F-16 fighters that Ukraine received from partners is not able to guarantee full protection in the air<\/a> . <\/p>\n
