In Rostov-on-Don, a military court sentenced Ukrainian prisoner of war and Azov Brigade fighter Dmitry Remez. The 33-year-old defense attorney was sentenced to 18 years in a maximum-security penal colony.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mediazona reports this, citing the court’s press service.<\/p>\n

Remez, originally from Zaporizhzhia, worked in the police until 2017. He subsequently joined the Azov Battalion, which Russian authorities illegally designated a “terrorist organization.”<\/p>\n

A Russian court accused the prisoner of “participating in a terrorist organization and training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities.”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On May 15, 2025, Dmitry Remez was also added to the Rosfinmonitoring list of \u201cterrorists and extremists.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on June 14, a trial of 22 Ukrainian soldiers belonging to the Azov Regiment took place<\/a> in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Of the 24 fighters who faced so-called “charges,” two were exchanged for Russian prisoners of war, and the other eight were women who worked as cooks in the Azov Regiment.<\/p>\n
