In the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation, the main production workshop of the Kirishsky Oil Refinery completely stopped working after a powerful drone attack on the night of October 4. The fire that broke out after the hit forced the enterprise to shut down its largest processing unit, CDU-6.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the agency, CDU-6 is key to the plant’s operation. It processes up to 8 million tons of oil per year, or about 40% of the plant’s total capacity. Its restoration could take at least a month.<\/p>\n

The Kirish refinery, a key element of Russia’s fuel infrastructure, produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and lubricants. Its shutdown could significantly worsen the fuel crisis that has already gripped Russia due to ongoing Ukrainian drone strikes.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the operation to destroy part of the refinery’s facilities was carried out by the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine together with the Black Spark rebel movement<\/a> . The plant in Kirishi is being attacked for the third time this year. Each time, the consequences for Russian oil refining become more and more painful.<\/p>\n

Recall that Ukrainian drones caused record damage<\/a> to Russia’s oil refining industry, disabling almost 38% of primary oil refining capacity.<\/p>\n

On October 2, powerful explosions were heard in the Russian Perm Territory<\/a> – drones hit a branch of the Azot enterprise of the Uralkhim plant in the city of Berezniki, located 1,700 km from the border with Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Earlier, SBU drones struck the largest Russian oil loading port<\/a> of Primorsk in the Baltic Sea, and oil shipments have now been stopped. <\/p>\n
