I promised you a story about the<\/strong> titushky who were sent after me with a so-called “protest.” It took a few days to piece everything together \u2014 and what came out is far more interesting than it first seemed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, on September 26, a strange post appeared on the Trukha<\/em> Telegram channel \u2014 about some kind of \u201cprotest\u201d outside my cooperative, featuring people with empty cardboard boxes. As you know, cardboard boxes have already become a trauma trigger for the current government after the youth protests against stripping NABU and SAPO of their procedural independence. But if those boxes were creative and meaningful, these were simply empty \u2014 which, frankly, makes sense.<\/p>\n

As it later turned out, a group of well-built guys had been brought to the dacha complex where I live the day before. They were taken out of a car, handed cardboard boxes, photographed, then loaded back in and driven away. The security guards didn\u2019t even understand what was happening \u2014 but they managed to take a picture of the car and called the police.<\/p>\n\t

The owner of the Chevrolet Volt that accompanied the \u201cprotesters\u201d \u2014 from which both the video and photos were taken \u2014 is <\/span>Andriy Derenivskyi<\/strong>. He\u2019s easy to find on Facebook, where it\u2019s clear he\u2019s actively involved in judo. No other notable activity is visible besides sports. The guys he brought with those empty cardboard boxes really do look like members of a sports club \u2014 with all due respect to athletes.<\/span><\/h6>\n

On Instagram, he goes by @drenya98<\/strong>, and apparently, \u201cDrenya\u201d is his long-standing nickname. They say Andriy never graduated from university and barely made it through vocational school \u2014 hence his fame in certain non-public<\/em> circles.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s interesting is that Derenivskyi is listed as the sole owner of two companies<\/strong> \u2014 Encross LLC<\/em> and Marten Locks LLC<\/em> (as confirmed by YouControl data). These firms are noteworthy because they served as intermediaries in the acquisition of assets belonging to Russian businessman Ihor Naumets<\/strong>, whose company Unigran<\/em> was involved in mineral extraction in the Zhytomyr region.<\/p>\n

Naumets was sanctioned by Ukraine for supplying crushed stone to the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk. His business was later \u201cbought out\u201d by Ukrainian entrepreneur Serhiy Shapran<\/strong>, who is now in pre-trial detention on charges of embezzling assets worth \u20b41 billion<\/strong> and for alleged collusion with Naumets. Shapran was caught trying to illegally cross the Ukrainian border and detained \u2014 but just two weeks ago, he was released on a \u20b45 million bail<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Shapran is well known in the Kyiv region for controlling sand mining \u2014 a lucrative business, often \u201cprotected\u201d by certain law enforcement circles.<\/p>\n

A major Radio Liberty investigation<\/strong> delves into this entire network \u2014 and Derenivskyi\u2019s companies appear there as intermediary firms.<\/p>\n

According to multiple sources, Derenivskyi \u2014 or \u201cDrenya\u201d \u2014 is Shapran\u2019s man<\/strong>, a front figure. Shapran, in turn, is a business partner of Odesa Regional Administration head Oleksiy Kiper<\/strong>. Notably, Shapran was released from custody on September 16<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So, I would like to ask the Security Service of Ukraine<\/strong> and the National Police<\/strong>: Is there a Russian trace<\/em> here? Because I view such \u201cprotests\u201d as pressure<\/strong>, and if they are organized by people involved in criminal cases \u2014 and with possible Russian connections \u2014 this becomes quite telling.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

However, I am convinced that these guys were simply hired<\/strong> for a \u201csensitive\u201d assignment \u2014 whether for money or through other arrangements. With or without Shapran\u2019s involvement. Whether through his law enforcement connections or not.<\/p>\n

Later, the so-called \u201cnews\u201d about this stunt appeared on Telegram channels \u2014 the same ones fully controlled by the security agencies and the authorities<\/strong>, where you can post anything for \u20b460,000<\/strong>. This was clearly not Derenivskyi\u2019s personal initiative<\/strong>. He had a client.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement could easily identify that client \u2014 too many people were involved. Those who received the payment can point directly to the payer. And Telegram channels are under such tight surveillance<\/strong> that the Security Service could get any information in minutes, if there were a will. I will submit an official request. But I have no doubt: this was done with the authorities\u2019 blessing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the goal of such operations, other than psychological pressure<\/strong>? Hard to say. But the methods look painfully familiar. I remember very well this tactic from the Yanukovych era<\/strong> \u2014 when groups of athletic men were brought in for \u201cmass events.\u201d It\u2019s sad to admit that we are once again witnessing the worst echoes of the Yanukovych years<\/strong>, only slightly modernized: the \u201ctitushki\u201d have been replaced by \u201cdreni.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
