Russia has failed to make significant progress in northeastern Ukraine despite its numerical superiority, and the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrate their ability to deter and adapt to a prolonged war. Against this backdrop, there are growing signs that the balance of power in the conflict may be shifting in Ukraine\u2019s favor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite the numerical superiority of Russian forces, their attempts to take control of important “fortresses” in the northeast have not yielded any noticeable progress. According to Worth, conquering a controlled line will require significant investment of time and resources.<\/p>\n

The publication also notes that damage to Russian oil pipelines and rear facilities by Ukrainian forces complicates Moscow’s offensive actions and could delay the operation for years.<\/p>\n

According to Ukrainian officers interviewed by the journalist, the key to holding the borders is finding effective ways to compensate for the shortage of human resources. Among the measures already being implemented, they named:<\/p>\n

active use of drones for reconnaissance and targeting;<\/p>\n

more careful and economical use of artillery;<\/p>\n

more precise planning of personnel movements;<\/p>\n

improved unit rotation schemes.<\/p>\n

One of the commanders, according to the material, emphasized that the goal is to avoid direct large-scale clashes in order to minimize personnel losses.<\/p>\n

Worth noted that during his previous visit to Ukraine, almost nine months ago, his impressions were much darker: then, according to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ armaments were lagging behind, and the Russians were using “meat waves” – massive attacks with live force and mercenaries.<\/p>\n

Now the journalist notes a different trend: “it seems that Ukraine is reorienting its institutions for a long war, learning quickly on the battlefield, continuing to inflict constant losses on the enemy and at the same time limiting its own losses,” the publication says.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Ukrainian forces in the Sumy direction used drones to block Russian troops’ ground supply and communication lines, which led to serious logistical problems in enemy units.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, the front line in Ukraine has been virtually unchanged for over a year. After the failed summer offensive of 2023, hostilities are increasingly taking on the features of a positional war – as was the case during the First World War.<\/a><\/p>\n
