Russia on Friday night, October 10, carried out another massive attack on the territory of Ukraine. Various regions were hit. This time, the target was energy and gas production facilities. The aggressor used several types of missiles and drones at once, launching a combined attack from different directions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command, during a telethon.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, we have another combined strike, as it is called. Why combined? This means the involvement of a large number of air attack vehicles of various types. These are drones, aeroballistic, ballistic, cruise and aviation missiles,” Ignat explained.<\/p>\n

According to him, this time the strikes were more dispersed. Several areas were attacked simultaneously, without focusing on one location. A feature of the night attack was the number of ballistic missiles used – at least 14 Iskander-M or KN-23, as well as two Kinzhals.<\/p>\n

“The main blow is on critical infrastructure facilities. The enemy has recently been interested in the energy sector as a target, as well as in our gas production facilities, but today, in fact, the enemy has dealt such an accentuated blow to the energy sector,” Ignat added.<\/p>\n

In total, according to the Air Force, Russia launched more than 30 missiles and more than 450 drones<\/a> , including about 200 Shahed strike drones. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept one Kinzhal and four other ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n

Ignat drew attention to the fact that the enemy’s kamikaze drones are constantly being improved. Now they are equipped with cameras and new modules that make it more difficult to detect and destroy them. The wreckage is being carefully analyzed in order to transfer the data to partners. This is necessary both to strengthen protection and for new sanctions initiatives.<\/p>\n

He also noted that Patriot-type systems can indeed effectively intercept ballistic missiles, but have a limited range of about 25 km. Because of this, much more such systems are needed to cover the entire territory of the country. In the case when an attack occurs simultaneously from several directions, complete interception of all threats is technically impossible.<\/p>\n

Critical infrastructure and residential buildings in the capital were seriously damaged<\/a> after a nighttime attack on Kyiv. Some areas were left without electricity and water, and the number of wounded civilians reached at least 12 people.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the morning of October 10 , residents of the left-bank part of the city reported large-scale power outages<\/a> . Due to damage to the infrastructure, the metro is partially out of service.<\/p>\n
