US First Lady Melania Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally responded to her letter regarding Ukrainian children illegally deported to Russia. From that moment, she said, a constant channel of communication was opened between them, which allowed the process of family reunification to begin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She announced<\/a> this on October 10 during an address at the White House.<\/p>\n

“Putin responded to my letter in writing and signaled a desire to work with me directly,” Melania Trump said.<\/p>\n

She also reported that the Russian leader provided detailed information about Ukrainian children currently in Russia.<\/p>\n

According to the first lady, several rounds of negotiations have taken place between the parties over the past three months.<\/p>\n

“My representative has been working directly with Putin’s team to ensure the reunification of children with their families between Russia and Ukraine. Eight children have already been reunited with their families in the last 24 hours… Three of them were separated from their families and moved to Russia due to fighting on the front lines. Five more were separated from family members on the other side of the border, including a little girl who was reunited with her family in Russia,” she announced.<\/p>\n

Melania Trump noted that the Kremlin “demonstrated a willingness to provide objective and detailed information” about each child, providing not only biographies and photos, but also “a list of services” provided to them in Russia. The United States, she said, was able to officially confirm this information.<\/p>\n

In addition, according to the first lady, the Russian side also agreed to the return of adults who recently turned 18.<\/p>\n

“I hope peace comes soon, it can start with our children,” Melania Trump concluded her speech.<\/p>\n
