British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz agreed during a joint telephone conversation on the use of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated in an official statement published by the German government, Reuters<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

“We are ready to move towards a coordinated use of the value of frozen Russian sovereign assets to support the armed forces of Ukraine and, thus, bring Russia to the negotiating table. We seek to do this in close cooperation with the United States of America,” the document states.<\/p>\n

The joint statement also said that the UK, France and Germany support the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and plan to resume humanitarian aid once the situation stabilizes.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the European Commission has presented a new concept that envisages directing the proceeds from frozen Russian assets to large-scale financial support for Ukraine<\/a> . We are talking about about 140 billion euros, which Kyiv will be able to attract to strengthen the budget and the defense sector.<\/p>\n

Instead of a direct transfer of funds , it is proposed to use debt instruments guaranteed by the European Union<\/a> . This will allow for rapid mobilization of resources without the legal risks associated with confiscation.<\/p>\n

At the same time , French President Emmanuel Macron previously warned that the forced seizure of Russian assets contradicts the norms of international law<\/a> and could provoke “complete chaos” in the global financial system.<\/p>\n
