For several months, the United States has been supporting Ukraine in carrying out long-range strikes against Russian energy facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Financial Times reports<\/a> this, citing informed sources.<\/p>\n

According to the publication’s sources, information provided by American intelligence to Kyiv enabled strikes on important Russian energy facilities, particularly oil refineries located far behind the front lines.<\/p>\n

“This previously unannounced support has intensified since mid-summer and has become crucial in helping Ukraine carry out attacks that Joe Biden’s White House had previously rejected. Kyiv’s strikes have driven up energy prices in Russia and forced Moscow to reduce its exports and imports of diesel fuel,” the FT writes.<\/p>\n

It is noted that the exchange of intelligence indicates that US President Donald Trump has strengthened his support for Ukraine, as his disappointment with Russia has grown.<\/p>\n

Trump’s change of heart likely occurred after his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in July. According to the FT, the US president asked whether Ukraine could strike Moscow if Washington provided it with long-range weapons.<\/p>\n

According to officials, this allowed Ukraine to more accurately map Russian air defenses and plan strike routes.<\/p>\n

Thanks to drone technology upgrades and increased production, Ukraine can launch more drones simultaneously. The main assets are the Fire Point and Liutyi drones, as well as Ukrainian-made Neptune and Flamingo rockets.<\/p>\n

The SBU reported that its special forces recently struck the Bashneft-UNPZ oil refinery in Ufa, 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Ukraine’s successes forced Moscow to reduce diesel exports, increase fuel imports, including from Belarus and China, and lose up to 20% of its fuel production capacity.<\/p>\n

In total, at least 16 of Russia’s 38 oil refineries were damaged in August and September, affecting more than a million barrels per day.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine works with US intelligence “primarily for defense,” in particular through the Patriot, NASAMS, and Iris-T systems provided by Western partners. The possibility of supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles is also being discussed, which “could strengthen Ukraine and deter Russia.”<\/p>\n

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously held a telephone conversation<\/a> during which they discussed the possibility of transferring long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kyiv.<\/p>\n

Incidentally, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhyi reported that Ukraine and the United States are negotiating and “working to agree on all the details” regarding the possible provision of Tomahawk cruise missiles.<\/a> Currently, there is no categorical refusal, but a detailed and active discussion about the technical and organizational nuances is ongoing.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump stated that he had almost made a decision to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.<\/a> It should be noted that the White House administration is concerned about whether it will be possible to monitor the use of such missiles<\/a> after their transfer to allies and then to Ukraine.<\/p>\n
