Slovenia officially joins the international PURL initiative, within the framework of which NATO countries finance the purchase of American weapons to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prime Minister Robert Golob stated<\/a> this during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.<\/p>\n

“I cannot disclose the amount because it is classified. And I do not have the authority to declassify it now, but it is provided for in the budget of the Ministry of Defense for 2025, so this is not additional expenses,” Golob said.<\/p>\n

According to him, future assistance will focus exclusively on defensive weapons. First of all, we are talking about air defense systems that will help protect Ukrainian energy infrastructure from constant Russian attacks.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister emphasized that Slovenia has long been providing military support to Ukraine, and this step is a logical continuation of such cooperation.<\/p>\n

Recall, the PURL initiative provides for financing the supply of American weapons to Ukraine through joint contributions from NATO countries. As previously reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga, as of October 13, six states have already joined the initiative<\/a> , and seven more plan to do so in the near future. Details of the next steps will be discussed at the upcoming meeting in the “Ramstein” format.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that partners contributed $1.5 billion to NATO’s PURL initiative<\/a> , thanks to which Ukraine receives weapons from the United States.<\/p>\n
