The occupiers claimed to have shot down the drones, but in reality, the drones successfully hit their targets, causing significant consequences for Russian forces.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense noted that the terminal is a multifunctional technological complex for the transshipment of oil and petroleum products from railway tank cars to sea vessels and back, as well as for road transport. The Feodosia oil terminal plays a key role in supplying the Russian occupation army.

Furthermore, drones from the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the same oil depot on the night of October 7, 2024. The resulting fire at the terminal burned for more than a week.

It is worth noting that approximately a third of the Feodosia oil depot’s capacity was destroyed as a result of this series of strikes. Of the 34 fuel tanks, only 22 remained intact.

Back in 2022, modern air defense systems, including Pantsir-S1 units, were redeployed to Crimea. Satellite images showed Pantsir systems mounted on podiums. Similar “armored vehicles” on podiums had previously been installed at the Tuapse oil depot and near other Russian critical infrastructure facilities. They are elevated to increase the detection range of targets.

Despite these defenses, Ukrainian drones continued to effectively strike strategic targets across the occupied peninsula.

On October 6 of this year, following a nighttime drone attack by the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, two massive fires broke out at the Feodosia oil terminal. Between October 7 and 12, the fires destroyed eight fuel tanks, with a total of 12 tanks affected.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the attack, stating, “The facilities of the Marine Oil Terminal (Feodosia, Autonomous Republic of Crimea) were damaged.”

On the night of October 13, drones from the Special Operations Forces and other components of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the marine oil terminal in temporarily occupied Feodosia again, damaging 16 fuel tanks. According to the General Staff, a large-scale fire continues to rage at the facility. The total volume of petroleum products that could have been stored in the damaged tanks is approximately 193,000 cubic meters.

The Feodosia oil depot is not only a component of civilian infrastructure but also a key logistics hub for Russian occupation forces. It supplies fuel to military equipment, refueling vessels, and the remnants of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

The Feodosia refinery is the largest in occupied Crimea, with an annual throughput capacity of 12 million tons of petroleum products and storage for 250,000 tons at any given time.

According to military analyst Vladislav Seleznev, the destruction of this terminal will create serious challenges for the supply of fuel to Russian units operating in southern regions, particularly in Kherson and southern Zaporizhzhia.

“The most serious consequences of this strike are related to the reduction in fuel supplies, which will complicate the army’s logistics and the execution of combat missions. Fuel is the lifeblood of the army. Without it, it is extremely difficult not only to maintain supply chains but also to carry out combat operations. I expect that the enemy will soon begin to feel the slowdown in the Russian army’s operations,” Seleznev noted.

The reduction in fuel and lubricant supplies to the front line is effectively paralyzing the Russian military machine in Ukraine.

As the pace of the Russian offensive slows, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are taking advantage of the situation, implementing what they call an active defense — launching counterattacks whenever the Russian advance loses momentum.

In mid-October 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a counteroffensive in the Zaporizhzhia direction, liberating the villages of Malye Shcherbaky, Shcherbaky, and surrounding areas. Ukrainian forces advanced approximately 3.5 km forward and over 5 km along the front.

These operations carry not only military but also profound socio-political significance. Massive queues at gas stations have been reported across Crimea, prompting the occupation authorities to impose strict restrictions: no more than 20 liters of fuel per vehicle and a ban on filling fuel into canisters.

While these measures are intended to prevent public unrest, they have only deepened local mistrust of the Russian authorities.

Crimea remains a symbolic territory for Putin, whom he has repeatedly described as a “return to his native harbor.” But the reality today is starkly different: gasoline prices have soared to 100 rubles per liter, food costs are rising, and promised investments have given way to a crisis scenario. Ukraine’s attacks are systematically dismantling the myth of “Russia’s showcase” on the peninsula.

It should be noted that these strikes are a symmetrical response to Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy and fuel infrastructure, designed to induce economic collapse. Now, that collapse is being felt in Crimea as well — and these actions constitute a legitimate, military-justified strategy.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces, Special Operations Forces, and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense continue to carry out targeted strikes against infrastructure critical to Russian military logistics and command and control. These efforts are part of a systematic campaign to weaken the aggressor’s capabilities and reduce its offensive potential.

As a reminder, on October 13, an oil depot in the temporarily occupied city of Feodosia caught fire after a drone attack.
