Ukraine is preparing to strengthen its air defenses in anticipation of a new wave of threats from the Russian Federation. Two more Patriot systems are expected to arrive in the fall. These systems are critical for protecting cities from Russian missile attacks, as one battery can only intercept ballistic targets within a radius of about 25 kilometers, and several must be deployed to cover megacities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command, during a telethon.<\/p>\n

“Patriot works on ballistics within a radius of about 25 kilometers. One battery can intercept such targets. Moreover, to cover a large city and an object located there, several batteries are needed to avoid hitting from different directions,” Ignat explained.<\/p>\n

According to him, the system has technical limitations in viewing at a certain angle, so for maximum efficiency it must be placed in several positions.<\/p>\n

The Air Force representative emphasized that the need for Patriot remains “extremely urgent,” as Ukrainian air defense is built on a zonal-object principle and already covers key areas throughout the country.<\/p>\n

Regarding the delivery dates, Ignat clarified that the exact dates are known to a narrow circle of people and are not disclosed for security reasons.<\/p>\n

“In fact, when the partners declare what they have transferred there, of course, it will be decided where to strengthen, in which direction,” he added.<\/p>\n

At the same time, it has been officially confirmed that two new Patriot systems will arrive in Ukraine in the fall, and the already deployed complexes are operating in the west, center, south, and north of the country.<\/p>\n

As you know, Patriot is an American anti-aircraft missile system designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles. Its range reaches 150 km, and against ballistic targets – about 25 km. The complex consists of a radar, a command post and launchers, and is considered one of the most effective air defense systems in the world, which has repeatedly saved Ukrainian cities from missile strikes.<\/p>\n

We will remind you that on the night of October 16,Russian troops struck the energy infrastructure of the Poltava region<\/a> , attacking the gas production facilities of the company DTEK Naftogaz.<\/p>\n

Also , more than half of Ukrenergo’s energy facilities have already been equipped with engineering systems to protect against drone attacks<\/a> , and the second stage of shelter construction is planned to be completed in the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n
