{"id":1307800,"date":"2025-10-17T13:07:47","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/15-ukrainian-prisoners-of-war-received-maximum-sentences-in-russia\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T13:07:47","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:07:47","slug":"15-ukrainian-prisoners-of-war-received-maximum-sentences-in-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/15-ukrainian-prisoners-of-war-received-maximum-sentences-in-russia\/","title":{"rendered":"15 Ukrainian prisoners of war received maximum sentences in Russia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don has sentenced a group of Ukrainian prisoners of war who fought as part of the Aidar battalion to long terms of imprisonment \u2014 from 15 to 21 years in a maximum-security colony.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This was reported by the Russian publication &#8220;Mediazona&#8221; with reference to the court&#8217;s press service.<\/p>\n<p> Judge Kirill Kryvtsov found the fighters guilty under several articles of the Russian Criminal Code:<br \/> \u2013 participation in the activities of a terrorist organization,<br \/> \u2013 an attempt to seize power by force,<br \/> \u2013 undergoing training for terrorist purposes.<\/p>\n<p> At the same time, as human rights activists note, the defendants were not charged with specific crimes. The only evidence of their &#8220;guilt&#8221; was their service in the &#8220;Aidar&#8221; battalion, a volunteer unit operating within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The accusations even included those who did not participate in hostilities &#8211; in particular, medics and drivers.<\/p>\n<p> Who received what sentences:<\/p>\n<p> 15 years old \u2014 Dmytro Fedchenko<\/p>\n<p> 16 years old \u2014 Andriy Sholik, Vitaliy Krokhalyov, Vyacheslav Baydyuk<\/p>\n<p> 18 years old \u2014 Volodymyr Makarenko, Ihor Gayokha<\/p>\n<p> 20 years \u2014 Mykola Chupryna, Taras Radchenko, Semen Zabayrachny, Serhiy Nikityuk, Oleksandr Taranets, Vladyslav Yermolinsky<\/p>\n<p> 21 years old \u2014 Vitaliy Gruzinov, Roman Nedostup, Serhiy Kalinchenko<\/p>\n<p> The case of serviceman Yevhen Pyatigorets is being considered separately &#8211; the prosecutor&#8217;s office has not yet filed a request for punishment.<\/p>\n<p> The case also involved two women, military medics Liliya Prutyan and Maryna Mishchenko. They were returned to Ukraine during one of the prisoner exchanges. The proceedings against them were separated into a separate case.<\/p>\n<p> The trial has been held behind closed doors since October 2024. The Russian side cited &#8220;increased attention to the case&#8221; and alleged &#8220;threats to the participants in the trial&#8221; as the formal pretext.<\/p>\n<p> Ukrainian military personnel reported at meetings about torture during detention in the Russian-controlled \u201cDPR.\u201d Despite this, no verification of these claims was conducted.<\/p>\n<p> As a reminder, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/u-rostovi-zasudyly-polonenoho-biytsia-azovu-vitaliia-kostiuchenka-do-18-rokiv-kolonii-suvoroho-rezhymu\/\">the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Ukrainian prisoner of war, soldier of the Azov brigade, Vitaliy Kostyuchenko.<\/a><\/p>\n<p> As reported, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/rosiyskyy-sud-zasudyv-polonenoho-biytsia-azovu-dmytra-remeza-do-18-rokiv-kolonii\/\">a military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Ukrainian prisoner of war, Azov Brigade fighter Dmytro Remez<\/a> .
