These strikes are reducing the capacity of the energy corridor and increasing the risk of cascading outages in the central regions of the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This is reported by OSINT communities.<\/p>\n<p> It is noted that during October 14\u201318, four substations with a capacity of 500\u2013750 kilovolts were attacked:<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li> Arzamas 500 kV \u2013 October 14;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> Balashovskaya 500 kV \u2013 October 16;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> Vladimirska 750 kV \u2013 October 17;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> Veshkaima 500 kV \u2013 October 18.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p> All four substations are main nodes. They receive and transmit power from hydroelectric power plants, thermal power plants, and nuclear power plants to the central regions, partly to Moscow and large industrial centers.<\/p>\n<p> Successive strikes on these substations reduce the capacity of the power grid and increase the likelihood of cascading outages. A hit to one substation is partially compensated for by neighboring lines, but when substations in the same row are attacked, the backup lines are overloaded, creating a chain reaction of outages.<\/p>\n<p> Regions that depend on these substation lines: Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Penza, Volgograd, Saratov, Vladimir, Ivanovo and partly the Moscow Power Center.<\/p>\n<p> Experts note that such strikes can create problems for industry and logistics, as energy hubs are critically important for the operation of large industrial enterprises and the provision of electricity to the population.<\/p>\n<p> By the way, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/v-ulianovskiy-oblasti-zghorila-kliuchova-pidstantsiia-rf-veshkayma\/\">Russia lost the Veshkaima substation (500 kV) in the Ulyanovsk region<\/a> , one of the key elements of its power system.<\/p>\n<p> It was previously reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/drony-atakuvaly-naftopererobnyy-zavod-u-kirishakh-u-leninhradskiy-oblasti-rf\/\">the operation to destroy part of the refinery&#8217;s facilities was carried out by the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine together with the Black Spark rebel movement<\/a> . The plant in Kirishi has been attacked for the third time this year.
