In Paris, a group of thieves carried out a daring robbery at the world-famous Louvre Museum on Sunday morning. Within minutes, they broke into the Apollo Gallery and stole several jewels from the French crown collection.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the attackers acted professionally and prepared the operation in advance. They reached the museum from the Seine embankment side, where renovation work is ongoing, and used a construction lifting platform to get into the windows of the Apollo Gallery.<\/p>\n

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said the robbery lasted about seven minutes. He said “it was a well-coordinated group that had scouted the area beforehand.” He noted that the attackers used special tools – the windows were “cut with a disc.”<\/p>\n

Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed that one of the stolen items \u2014 a jewel \u2014 was found near the crime scene.<\/p>\n

“During the criminals’ escape, one of the jewelry pieces fell. It was found. According to preliminary data, it is the crown of Empress Eugenie, which was damaged,” she said on the TF1 television channel.<\/p>\n

The official clarified that “the operation lasted no more than four minutes,” while according to the Minister of Internal Affairs, “the attack lasted seven minutes in total.” She emphasized that “no violence was used during the robbery” and “visitors were evacuated without incident.”<\/p>\n

Following the incident, police closed off the Quai Fran\u00e7ois-Mitterand along the museum, and the Paris Police Anti-Banditry Brigade and the Central Directorate for Combating the Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property were involved in the investigation.<\/p>\n

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened criminal proceedings for theft by an organized group and criminal association for the purpose of committing a serious crime. The investigation is ongoing, and the amount of damage is currently being determined.<\/p>\n

The mayor of the central district of Paris, Ariel Weil, called the incident “a shock for the city” and stressed that “this event calls into question the level of security even in the most protected museums in the world.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, tourists planning to visit the Louvre on the day of the event were forced to observe the museum’s pyramid only from a distance due to the established security perimeter.<\/p>\n

According to law enforcement, surveillance camera footage is currently being studied, and the possibility that the perpetrators may be foreigners is being considered. French authorities have expressed hope for the swift identification of the attackers and the return of the stolen relics, including Napoleonic-era jewelry and imperial court treasures.<\/p>\n

Earlier it was reported that on the morning of October 19, a high-profile robbery took place in Paris<\/a> – attackers stole nine jewels from Napoleon’s collection. The incident caused the Louvre to close for the entire day.<\/p>\n
