In Palma de Mallorca (Spain), the airport was temporarily closed on October 19 due to the appearance of an unidentified drone in the area of Son Sant Joan Airport. The incident caused delays and flight changes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Enaire<\/a> , the company that manages Spain’s air navigation, the drone was spotted around 7 p.m. Its presence was confirmed by at least six crews, after which flights were temporarily suspended for 35 minutes.<\/p>\n

After the incident, the company informed that the airport had resumed operations, but passengers were advised to check the status of their flights due to the possible consequences of the disruptions.<\/p>\n

As journalists note, the delays affected both arrivals and departures. Some flights were redirected to other airports.<\/p>\n

The state-owned company Aena, which is responsible for Spain’s airports, said eight flights to Palma had been diverted, bringing the total number of flights cancelled overnight to thirteen.<\/p>\n

In addition, 22 departing flights were delayed, some by more than an hour.<\/p>\n

The Spanish National Police launched their own drone to search for the unknown device, but it was unsuccessful. Law enforcement officers have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident and the person who was flying the drone.<\/p>\n
