Budapest will not prevent the adoption of another package of European Union sanctions against Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> Hungarian Foreign Minister P\u00e9ter Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3, Euractiv reports.<\/p>\n

The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry denied rumors that Budapest is allegedly planning to block the sanctions package in connection with the possible visit of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump to the Hungarian capital.<\/p>\n

“We have no intention of blocking the new package. We have managed to remove from it all the items that could harm our national interests,” Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 emphasized.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the minister stated that he would not participate in the discussion of Brussels’ sanctions policy, because, according to him, it does not produce results.<\/p>\n

“I have no intention of joining such senseless initiatives. Sanctions do not work – the war is still going on,” Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 said, criticizing the EU’s approach to responding to Russian aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the head of European diplomacy, Kaia Kallas, said that this week the European Union plans to adopt the 19th package of sanctions against Russia<\/a> . According to her, the decision will not be made on October 20, but a key meeting of EU leaders is scheduled for October 23.<\/p>\n

As reported, two European Union member states \u2014 Slovakia and Austria \u2014 are delaying the approval of the 19th package of sanctions against Russia.<\/a><\/p>\n
