The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget has supported the updated version of the state budget for 2025, which provides for a significant increase in spending on the security and defense sector – by 325 billion hryvnias.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the head of the committee, Roksolana Pidlas.<\/p>\n

As the deputy explained, the updated bill No. 14103 provides for an increase in funding for defense needs by UAH 324.7 billion – previously this amount was UAH 317 billion.<\/p>\n

According to the draft budget, the funds will go to:<\/p>\n

UAH 210.9 billion \u2014 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;<\/p>\n

UAH 99.1 billion \u2014 for the production and purchase of weapons and ammunition;<\/p>\n

UAH 8.1 billion for the National Guard;<\/p>\n

UAH 4.3 billion \u2014 purchase of drones, coordinated by the State Service for Special Communications;<\/p>\n

UAH 1.3 billion \u2014 for the Security Service of Ukraine;<\/p>\n

UAH 918 million \u2014 to the State Special Transport Service;<\/p>\n

UAH 83 million \u2014 to the State Border Guard Service;<\/p>\n

UAH 28.8 million \u2014 to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense;<\/p>\n

UAH 8 million \u2014 to the Foreign Intelligence Service.<\/p>\n

The increase in funding is expected to come from several sources:<\/p>\n

UAH 294.3 billion \u2014 international support, including EUR 6 billion in the form of so-called “non-repayable loans” (ERA loans) from the European share. These funds do not require repayment or payment of interest;<\/p>\n

UAH 10.4 billion \u2014 due to reductions in non-military expenditures, as well as internal redistributions within state bodies;<\/p>\n

UAH 20 billion \u2014 expected additional revenues from personal income tax and military levy, related to the increase in the payroll in the defense sector in November\u2013December.<\/p>\n

As noted by<\/a> MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, for the first time the Ukrainian defense sector will receive funding from frozen Russian assets. According to him, out of the total amount of 325 billion UAH, 292 billion (equivalent to 6 billion euros) are funds received from frozen Russian assets, which will be transferred to Ukraine earlier than expected. They will be directed exclusively to military purposes.<\/p>\n

Let us remind you that there are three months left until the end of the year, but the 2025 state budget still lacks funds for salaries for the Ukrainian military – the deficit is estimated at about UAH 300 billion.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, the People’s Deputy from “European Solidarity” Nina Yuzhanina stated that in the draft state budget for 2026, the government makes big social promises without real funding<\/a> . In particular, this concerns the loudly announced increase in teachers’ salaries – by 50%.<\/p>\n
