Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski suggested that a Polish court may oblige the government to detain Russian President Vladimir Putin’s plane if it passes through the country’s airspace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He stated<\/a> this in a comment to the Polish publication Wnp.pl.<\/p>\n

According to Sikorsky, Warsaw cannot guarantee that in the event of Putin’s flight over Poland, the court will not oblige the government to land his plane and hand over the Russian president to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.<\/p>\n

He was answering questions about Putin’s possible visit to Hungary and crossing EU airspace. The minister stressed that from a technical point of view, Budapest could be reached via another route – via Turkey, Montenegro and Serbia, bypassing EU member states.<\/p>\n

Sikorsky also criticized the position of Hungary, which, despite its participation in Western structures, continues to demonstrate political closeness to Russia. In particular, he mentioned Budapest’s purchase of Russian oil, as well as the blocking of aid to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As you know, Vladimir Putin is under an arrest warrant issued by the ICC in connection with war crimes committed by Russia on the territory of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on October 16, US President Donald Trump spoke about the details of his telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that they agreed to meet face to face in the near future in the capital of Hungary, Budapest.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, Hungary does not plan to arrest Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on a warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) when he arrives in Budapest to meet with US President Donald Trump.<\/a><\/p>\n
