Therefore, Ukraine should amend the Criminal Code and strengthen responsibility for linguocide.

This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by Taras Kremin, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language (2020-2025).

“With the beginning of the full-scale invasion and, of course, with the beginning of the aggression in 2014, the issue of language did not leave the enemy’s agenda. What we see in the temporarily occupied territories, therefore what we see in the international space, such as, say, in European countries, where there is a concentration of forcibly displaced Ukrainians, is how the Russians create opportunities and forcibly push them into their cultural so-called centers with the subsequent processing of their worldview, their consciousness,” Kremin noted.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKaAZ9hJFsE

Did Zelensky Just Erase the UPA from History?

In addition, according to him, Ukrainian youth in the temporarily occupied territories have also been hit by Russian propaganda.

“According to various indicators, less than a million education seekers were subjected to so-called filtering actions with a change in identity, including pedagogical workers who were forcibly transformed from teachers of the Ukrainian language, literature, or history into teachers of the Russian language and literature. These same actions also affected the parents of such children. And, of course, we have repeatedly talked about these things,” the former Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language informs.

Therefore, in his opinion, it is very important to strengthen responsibility for violations of the language rights of citizens of Ukraine and make appropriate amendments to the Criminal Code.

“Because there must be strict responsibility for linguicide during the temporary occupation, because the language there is also under enormous pressure. And, thanks to our international partners, we have a huge number of political statements, resolutions, of course, and law enforcement agencies, human rights organizations are actively working in this direction. But over the years, the Ukrainian language has become more numerous, irreversible processes have been launched, the vast majority of Ukrainian citizens at work, at home, and, of course, everywhere, on social networks, prefer Ukrainian,” Taras Kremin emphasizes.

In the White House, Witkoff demanded that Ukraine hand over Donetsk region to Russia, citing the “language issue”

As “Pryamiy” reported, in the occupied territories, the Russians continue to brutally oppress Ukrainians – not only do they restrict access to their native language, but a real genocide is underway. At the same time, the Russian Federation withdrew from the treaty on combating torture, thus legalizing its actions against Ukrainians, calling it “denazification.”

Earlier, the Center for National Resistance reported that the so-called authorities in the temporarily occupied territories informed parents of schoolchildren about the ban on the use of the Ukrainian language by their children and the possible blacklisting of them as disloyal if they are caught using their native language. The warning was made in the context of possible criminal penalties for so-called extremism.

The Central Intelligence Agency also reported that a new wave of repressions against those who remain loyal to Ukrainian citizenship has unfolded in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine in the summer. Filtering raids by Russian special services continue throughout the occupation zone – from the Azov Sea to the north of Luhansk Oblast. The main goal is to force the mass acceptance of Russian passports and create an image of “popular support” for the occupation regime.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

Russian propaganda continues to oppress the Ukrainian language in the occupied territories and abroad – Ukrainian youth and teachers are under attack, who are subjected to filtration actions and are forced to switch to the Russian language.
