On the afternoon of October 24, a series of powerful explosions were heard in the Odessa region \u2014 Russian troops struck the region with a guided aerial bomb (GAB) for the first time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The Air Force clarified that the bomb was moving in the direction of Yuzhne and Chornomorske. According to preliminary information, the enemy used a modified version of the UMPB-5 jet bombs, which had not previously been used for attacks in the region.<\/p>\n

At 1:57 p.m., the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper, officially confirmed<\/a> that this was the first recorded use of guided bombs against the Odessa region.<\/p>\n

“During today’s air attack, the Russian army used CABs for the first time on the civilian infrastructure of our region. This is a new and extremely serious threat, because such strikes pose a huge danger to people and can cause large-scale destruction,” Kiper emphasized.<\/p>\n

The head of the OVA also appealed to residents of the region not to ignore air raid sirens and to follow safety rules during air attacks.<\/p>\n
