Italy is preparing another, already 12th, package of military support for Ukraine, which will focus mainly on the supply of ammunition and missiles for SAMP\/T air defense systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> Bloomberg, citing its own sources.<\/p>\n

As noted, the new defense package could be approved by the end of the year, but the exact timing depends on the results of parliamentary procedures in Rome.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Giorgia Malone’s office has already handed over 11 aid packages to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Their combined value is estimated at \u20ac2.5-3 billion. Italy has already delivered two SAMP\/T missile batteries, with details of future deliveries currently being kept secret for security reasons.<\/p>\n

Despite its own financial difficulties and the reduction of American aid to Kyiv, Italy does not refuse to support Ukraine, Bloomberg<\/em> emphasizes. The publication adds that the search for new sources of funding has become especially urgent after the United States stopped compensating for the cost of weapons transferred by allies.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Malone government is considering activating the \u201cnational exception clause\u201d within the EU\u2019s budgetary rules, which would allow for increased defense spending and continued assistance to Ukraine even in difficult economic conditions.<\/p>\n
