Comet C\/2025 A6 (Lemmon) has made its closest approach to Earth. This is the first such event in 1,350 years, and in terms of brightness it could be one of the most noticeable comets of 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Comet C\/2025 A6 was discovered in January of this year. In recent months, its brightness has rapidly increased to magnitude 5.7, almost the limit of visibility with the naked eye.<\/p>\n

It is known that on October 21, the celestial body flew at a distance of about ninety million kilometers from Earth, which by astronomical standards is considered a close approach.<\/p>\n

Astronomers note that on this day the comet will be visible low above the northwestern horizon after sunset – in the constellation of Bo\u00f6tes.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on October 26\u201327, the comet will move to the constellation Ophiuchus. It is best observed in areas without city lights, using binoculars or a small telescope.<\/p>\n

Experts explain that a comet becomes brighter as it approaches the Sun. The sun’s heat evaporates the ice on its surface, forming a large gas shell and tail that reflect light.<\/p>\n

According to astronomers, Comet Lemmon is flying so close to Earth for the first time in 1,350 years, and the next such approach may occur only in a few centuries.<\/p>\n

Recall that near the Solar System, astronomers have discovered a new exoplanet, Gliese 251c<\/a> , which orbits a red dwarf star 18 light-years from Earth. The planet belongs to the \u201csuper-Earth\u201d type and may have conditions suitable for the existence of liquid water and life.<\/p>\n
