On Monday, October 27, a children’s jiu-jitsu instructor was detained in Kyiv on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported<\/a> this.<\/p>\n

“Under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, a 37-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor was notified of suspicion of sexual assault against his 11-year-old student,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the 37-year-old professional athlete conducted individual training sessions for children. During one of the sessions, the man was left alone with the child, undressed him, and sexually assaulted him.<\/p>\n

“The coach took advantage of the girl’s speech impediment, trusted him, and wouldn’t tell her parents about it,” the Prosecutor General’s Office emphasized.<\/p>\n

His actions are classified under Part 4 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sexual violence committed against a person under fourteen years of age, regardless of their voluntary consent). The suspect faces five to ten years in prison.<\/p>\n

“The suspect has been placed under arrest for 60 days, an uncontested measure of restraint,” the statement added.<\/p>\n
