The Ukrainian Ministry of Health does not expect a shortage of medications following the Russian attack on the Kyiv-based Optima-Pharm plant, one of the country’s largest distributors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deputy Minister of Health Edem Adamanov announced this on the “United News” telethon.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He confirmed that on October 25, occupation forces fired on a large warehouse containing medical supplies, but the company is prepared for such risks.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The company is launching a reserve buffer train, which will take over the volumes provided by the destroyed facility. Therefore, no shortage is expected,” Adamanov noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The official said other distributors are already reconfiguring their routes to help offset logistical losses and ensure drug supplies reach all regions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He estimates that Optima-Pharm will need about two weeks to resume operations, as not only the warehouse but also the office was damaged.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“There may be short-term interruptions in individual pharmacies, but this does not mean there will be a shortage,” he emphasized.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Adamanov also explained that in such emergency situations, an emergency response team is formed to receive daily data from distributors and pharmacy chains on medication availability in the regions. In the event of a shortage, supply chains are promptly adjusted.<\/p>\n

According to him, insulin, cancer drugs, painkillers, and antibiotics remain a priority.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“If another large warehouse is damaged, we have a solution \u2013 simplified storage conditions, expedited licensing, or warehouse certification. We can also quickly introduce simplified drug import procedures to fully meet demand,” the deputy minister added.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on October 25, the central warehouse of the pharmaceutical distributor<\/a> Optima-Pharm in the Kyiv region was the target of Russian shelling. The warehouse held approximately 20% of Ukraine’s monthly supply of the drug, posing a real threat of temporary shortages in the capital and the region.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of October 25, Russian infidels launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv.<\/a> One person was killed in the attack.<\/p>\n
