These are the first sanctions imposed during Trump’s second term, and they create a fundamentally new situation in the global energy market.

Firstly, this is a clear signal: the US is prepared to further increase sanctions pressure on Russia and is counting on the coordinated actions of its partners.

Secondly, Indian and Chinese companies have already responded to the sanctions by being forced to reduce their purchases of Russian oil, demonstrating the global impact of American decisions.

Thirdly, Ukrainian legislation provides for an international legal obligation to synchronize national sanctions with those of the United States of America, so Ukraine is obliged to respond to these actions by Washington.

Back in early January 2025, European Solidarity publicly called on the Ukrainian authorities to completely shut down the Druzhba oil pipeline, which pumps 300,000 barrels of Russian oil daily to the European Union.

Every day of delay adds $20 million to the aggressor country’s war budget. $20 million is equal to the cost of producing 100 Shahed missiles, which have become Russia’s primary weapon against the civilian population of our country. In these 10 months alone, Russia has earned an additional $6 billion, which it has used to wage war against Ukraine: against our children, against our energy infrastructure, and against Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines.

Now, the justification for European Solidarity’s demands is being demonstrated by the decision of its strategic ally, the United States, to impose sanctions against Russia. Russian oil is a resource for war.

The oil shipped through Ukraine via the Druzhba pipeline, at least in part, originates from companies subject to US sanctions. This is yet another argument for immediately halting transit. Ukraine cannot remain idle while even Indian and Chinese energy giants are changing their contracts and purchase volumes. Ignoring the US decision creates a real risk of secondary sanctions, including personal sanctions against the Druzhba pipeline management and Ukrainian officials responsible for decision-making.

The European Solidarity Party reminds us that the political foundation for the necessary decisions has already been created. We have prepared the corresponding draft resolutions for the Verkhovna Rada , which provide the government with political and legal support for its actions. This absurdity with Druzhba must end immediately. European Solidarity demands:

1. Suspend the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline as part of the synchronization of Ukrainian national sanctions with those of the United States of America.

2. To include this issue on the agenda of the next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and to adopt the draft resolutions prepared by the European Solidarity faction.

3. We plan to contact law enforcement agencies, specifically the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, requesting an investigation into whether the delays or sabotage of decisions regarding the Druzhba oil pipeline are motivated by the commercial interests of certain individuals or legal entities. This concerns potential revenues from the supply of diesel fuel produced in EU countries to Ukraine via oil pumped through the Druzhba pipeline.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko once again called on the Ukrainian authorities to halt the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. In a comment to journalists, Poroshenko noted that with the money from this transit, Russia could produce a thousand Shahids per day, or 350,000 per year.

Also follow “Pryamy” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram and Instagram.

US President Donald Trump announced sanctions against Russian oil companies Lukoil, Rosneft, and their subsidiaries.
