The move is designed to give the United States a strategic advantage in the world’s most dynamic segment of the economy, which is expected to be worth more than $4.7 trillion in exports by 2024.

This is reported by Bloomberg, citing data from American officials and analysts.

New agreements signed by the United States with Malaysia and Cambodia, and previous agreements with Thailand, include guarantees that these countries will not impose additional taxes on digital services or restrict the activities of American technology companies. In particular, the agreements cover the areas of e-commerce, cloud services, streaming content and social networks.

The agreements also provide for support for the World Trade Organization (WTO) moratorium on the introduction of tariffs on electronic transmissions, which has been in effect since 1998. According to experts, such steps demonstrate Washington’s strategic goal – to ensure the long-term leadership of American technology giants, such as Google, Meta, and Amazon, in the global digital services market.

Analysts say the US is combining protecting its own production through tariffs with a simultaneous desire to create an open global market for digital technologies, free from taxes and protectionist barriers. This contrasts with the European Union’s strategy, which is instead increasing regulation and taxation of the digital sector.

The new initiative also signals the US’s willingness to actively shape international rules for digital trade, giving American companies priority in the global internet space.

Recall, on October 30, the US Senate voted to repeal the global tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

The Trump administration is pushing for a global digital economy free of tariffs and restrictions, allowing American companies to dominate online commerce, cloud computing, streaming services and social media.
