The Sixth Administrative Court of Appeals confirmed the illegality of blocking Petro Poroshenko’s international activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> Artur Gerasimov, co-chairman of the European Solidarity faction, during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

“Yesterday, the 6th Administrative Court of Appeal, in the case of Poroshenko v. Cabinet of Ministers, rendered a great service to Ukrainian democracy and our European integration by declaring illegal the same government decree that was explicitly mentioned in the European Parliament’s Resolution on the abuse of exit bans from Ukraine as a political instrument.”<\/p>\n

“This isn’t about Poroshenko; it’s about a systemic illness within the government, which has decided it can keep members of parliament and local councils on a tight leash, permitting or prohibiting travel to international meetings not by law, but by personal ‘whatever you please.’ This instrument has so shocked our European partners that today it’s being discussed in Brussels as a symptom,” the MP states.<\/p>\n

“And today, as the European Commission prepares its decisions on Ukraine’s progress toward EU membership, this court ruling is a signal. The rule of law is not an abstraction, but a practical test, and we must implement it. Therefore, I call on all responsible agencies, first and foremost the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to implement this court ruling immediately,” Hera noted.<\/p>\n

“Because no government decree can be above the law and the Constitution. The government must finally stop making politically motivated, populist decisions that humiliate the country and discredit it before the world. Because this is not only unprofessional, it is amateurish, destroying the prospects of our state. This includes the three thousand free gifts, which is unacceptable in a country with so many problems both at the front and in the rear. Democracy is not the rule of decrees and prohibitions.<\/p>\n

“The government is accountable to parliament, not the other way around. And the decisions of the courts\u2014an independent branch\u2014are binding on everyone without exception, even if they don’t please those in high places. It’s worth remembering that it was the government that initiated the swales-like, absurd sanctions against Petro Poroshenko. And this decision should be the first legal proof of the complete reversal of this political farce. Today’s court ruling is not only a victory of law over arbitrariness.<\/p>\n
