There are no continuous building-to-building or block-by-block attacks. Enemy groups move covertly, often disguised in civilian clothing, striking Ukrainian positions only when they perceive a tactical advantage and a high likelihood of success.

For Ukrainian forces, the battle is focused on key positions rather than every individual building. The use of small assault groups by the enemy allows them to create localized breakthroughs, particularly in the central part of the city. The frontline between the Industrial Zone (near the 9th Fire and Rescue Squad) and the Pokrovsk railway station marks a critical boundary.

These small assault groups aim to seize Ukrainian positions within Pokrovsk itself, threatening to isolate defenders concentrated in the so-called “Promka” area and creating the risk of operational encirclement.

On the western flank of the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces hold positions along the Udachnoye–Kovalikha agrofirm line, with advances also occurring along the railway from Mezhevaya toward Pokrovsk.

The main challenge for Ukrainian defenders is that the enemy is attempting to cut off logistics routes that supply both Pokrovsk and Mirnograd, which are vital for maintaining defensive operations.

In the Myrnohrad direction, Russian forces have established a zone of control near the 5/6 mine, amassing small assault groups. The occupiers are reportedly using mine administration buildings as UAV control stations.

Rodynske remains a key point of Ukrainian defense, as a paved road runs past the settlement, making it strategically important. In Rodynske, Russian forces are attempting to gain a foothold near a kindergarten, but Ukrainian troops are conducting counter-sabotage operations to neutralize these assault groups. The main enemy attacks are focused on the flanks of Ukrainian positions, particularly near Rodynske and the village of Volodymyrivka, from which the occupiers are attempting to exert pressure on Hryshino, another critical location for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Ukrainian forces successfully pushed back Russian units near the village of Shakhovo in the Donetsk region, just over 20 kilometers northeast of Pokrovsk. It should be noted that there is currently no operational encirclement of Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk, nor any full control of the city by enemy forces.

Stabilization measures are underway. Following orders from Commander-in-Chief Valerii Syrsky, additional operational reserves have been deployed to strengthen defenses in Pokrovsk. Units from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), the Special Operations Forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other branches are actively engaged in securing the city.

Ukrainian troops have improved their tactical positions in several neighborhoods of Pokrovsk. According to the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Ukrainian Airborne Assault Troops, enemy assault groups are increasing in number, employing varied methods of movement. Ukrainian forces are simultaneously working to block enemy logistics and disrupt their operations.

Soldiers from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala,” alongside the 210th and 1st Assault Battalions, cleared the city council building in Pokrovsk of Russian occupiers and raised the Ukrainian flag in a staged operation.

Commander-in-Chief Syrsky emphasized that in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, Ukrainian troops continue to face pressure from a multi-thousand-strong enemy force attempting to infiltrate residential areas and severe supply lines. The defense of the agglomeration is being reinforced with additional units, weapons, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

According to estimates from the Ukrainian General Staff, over the past 24 hours alone, Russian forces in Pokrovsk have suffered approximately 100 personnel losses due to stabilization operations conducted by Ukrainian special units. These losses include both irrecoverable and medical casualties.

In just over two months, total enemy losses in the Ocheretinsky (Dobropolsky) direction have reached catastrophic levels: more than 15,700 personnel, 1,364 pieces of weapons and military equipment—including 36 tanks, 121 armored combat vehicles, 4 artillery systems, 592 motorcycles and ATVs, and 1 specialized vehicle. Additionally, 4,689 UAVs have been destroyed. These figures represent severe attrition even for the Russian occupation army.

Following the failure of the summer-fall campaign and heavy losses at the front, personnel purges have begun. Reports indicate that a meeting chaired by Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov led to the dismissal of Lieutenant General Milchakov, commander of the 51st Army. Such decisions underscore the falsity of claims made by Gerasimov and the Russian dictator regarding so-called tactical successes at the front. The summer-fall campaign of Russian forces has effectively stalled.

Enemy losses have now exceeded the army’s capacity for replenishment. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 336,000 personnel signed contracts with the armed forces since the beginning of 2025. Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Western intelligence estimates indicate that Russian forces have suffered approximately 353,000 casualties from January to November 2025 alone—and fighting is far from over. Battles in the Pokrovsk district are intensifying, and fierce clashes continue across the entire 1,200-kilometer front line.

These losses are staggering. Discussions in Russia about a second and third wave of partial mobilization suggest growing social tension and instability within the occupying country.

Also, follow “Pryamyi” on Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, and Instagram.

• Materials published in the “THOUGHTS” section reflect the opinion of the author of the publication, who bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the information.
• The editorial board of prm.ua may not share the opinions expressed in the author’s material.
• The owner of the web page in the “THOUGHTS” section is the author of the publication.

Russian Occupiers Intensify Assault on Pokrovsk: Key Ukrainian Logistics Hub Under Siege Pokrovsk remains the main focus of the Russian offensive, as this section of the front experiences the highest concentration of daily Russian assault actions compared to other areas.
