The politician stressed that such steps would only contribute to the continuation of the war.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This is reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-11-08\/slovakia-opposes-using-frozen-russian-assets-to-support-ukraine\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bloomberg<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p> Fico said that the Slovak government would not agree to any legal or financial mechanisms that would involve the use of Russian funds to finance Ukraine&#8217;s defense. In an interview with public broadcaster STVR, the prime minister stressed that such actions, in his opinion, would not contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Slovakia will not participate in any legal or financial schemes to recover frozen assets if these funds are spent on military spending in Ukraine,&#8221; Fico said.<\/p>\n<p> He also questioned the advisability of large financial injections in support of Ukraine, noting that this could only prolong the fighting.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Do we want to stop the war or are we just fueling it? We are going to give Ukraine 140 billion euros to keep the war going. So what does that mean? That the war will last at least two more years,&#8221; the prime minister said.<\/p>\n<p> Robert Fico, known for his pro-Russian stance, had previously threatened to block sanctions against Russia, but eventually agreed to them after receiving additional concessions.
