For the Ukrainian authorities, reality is less important than performance. The state exists only as a stage, where appearances matter more than results, and every action is measured by how convincingly it can be shown, rather than by what it actually achieves.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Smoke is when a \u201cbreakthrough\u201d is manufactured from a single cog. When two idle officials and a banner with stars are already hailed as a \u201cnew stage of European integration.\u201d<\/span><\/h6>\n

Mirrors are when, instead of providing answers about weapons, corruption, or reforms, there is dazzling news about \u201cthree thousand kilometers of free railway rides.\u201d The people are pleased: they can travel. True, not to Europe, but just in a circle\u2014like on a children\u2019s carousel.<\/p>\n
