The agreement on gas supplies from Greece to Ukraine is part of a large-scale winter energy package, and imports will begin as early as January 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during a joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The head of state emphasized that Russia is systematically attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure, destroying power plants and gas production facilities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The Russians are striking our infrastructure virtually every night. Most of our power plants, our gas production facilities, and our thermal power plants have become mere targets for missiles, drones, and North Korean missiles. We are rebuilding, but this takes time and equipment. Gas imports are necessary to compensate for the destruction of our production,” Zelenskyy explained.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, the agreement with Greece has become a key element of the energy package prepared for the winter.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Gas supplies will begin as early as January, and it is important that our initial agreements be implemented in the first quarter,” the president added.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis confirmed his country’s readiness to become a reliable partner for Ukraine in the energy sector. He emphasized that cooperation has reached a new level thanks to the creation of a vertical energy corridor.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“This is a new, secure energy artery from Alexandroupoli to Odesa. Thus, Ukraine gains access to reliable energy sources, and Greece becomes a hub for American liquefied natural gas supplies to Central and Eastern Europe,” Mitsotakis said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He stressed that this project is of crucial importance for energy stability not only in Ukraine, but also in the entire region.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The new import route is expected to strengthen the country’s energy resilience amid Russia’s massive attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Ukraine has reached an agreement with Greece on<\/a> a new gas import route.<\/p>\n
