A new scam is spreading in Ukraine, sending fake messages to pensioners claiming to urgently need to \u201cverify their age.\u201d The messages contain false threats of termination of benefits and are used to collect personal information.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian pensioners are being attacked by a wave of fake “warnings” sent via social media and instant messaging. In these messages, scammers claim that elderly people must immediately submit some kind of application to “prove their age” or they will lose their right to a pension.<\/p>\n

Hetmantsev stressed that such requirements are completely fictitious. According to him, pensions are assigned and paid exclusively in accordance with current legislation, and not through anonymous SMS or messages on the Internet.<\/p>\n

In fake texts, scammers create artificial panic, add fake links, and try to collect personal information. The main target of such schemes is older people, who may believe false “warnings” and give unauthorized parties access to documents or bank accounts.<\/p>\n

Experts advise against clicking on suspicious links and entering personal information on third-party resources. Relatives of elderly people are urged to warn them about the dangers of such fraudulent actions.<\/p>\n

Such fakes have nothing to do with the real procedure for identifying pensioners. Official identification applies only to certain categories of citizens, including those who temporarily reside abroad, are in temporarily occupied territories, or have left and reside in territory controlled by Ukraine.<\/p>\n
