The International Monetary Fund has offered Ukraine a new $8 billion loan program. It is designed for four years and will be an important tool for attracting further international support.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by the head of the budget committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Roksolana Pidlasa.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to her, the Ukrainian delegation has already held official negotiations with the head of the IMF mission, Gavin Gray, and his team. At the meeting, they discussed the parameters of the 2026 state budget and the conditions that Ukraine must fulfill for the program to start. In particular, the parliament must approve a budget with a deficit agreed with the fund.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pidlasa said the IMF’s decision to launch the program is expected in January, and the first disbursement could happen then. She stressed that the $8 billion amount is less than the government had expected, but the program is key to unlocking other sources of financing, including a reparations loan.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Among the IMF’s main requirements are increasing budget revenues and combating tax evasion schemes.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the International Monetary Fund may suspend financial support for Ukraine<\/a> due to Belgium’s refusal to support the European Union’s reparations loan of 140 billion euros.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the International Monetary Fund is putting pressure on the National Bank of Ukraine<\/a> , calling for a controlled devaluation of the hryvnia – despite the fact that the country continues to suffer from the war.<\/p>\n
