Currently, even the NABU and SAPO do not have clear data on how many government officials may be directly or indirectly financed from the profits of energy companies that have suffered from Russian aggression. In such circumstances, suspicions of conflicts of interest and potential abuses are growing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to an influential source from law enforcement agencies, it is worth paying attention to the declaration of the head of the State Bureau of Investigation, Igor Sukhachev: his wife Iryna received a salary from Energoatom in 2023. At the same time, the source notes, the State Bureau of Investigation did not conduct a deeper investigation in this direction.<\/p>\n

According to public registers, Iryna Sukhachova did indeed declare almost UAH 190,000 in salary from Energoatom for 2023. In addition, she received payments from the state-owned Market Operator, which belongs to the Ministry of Energy: approximately UAH 150,000 in 2023, and in 2024 \u2014 over UAH 4.5 million.<\/p>\n

These figures are impressive, since, according to the source, the amounts earned by the SBI director’s wife significantly exceed the income of Igor Sukhachev himself. Given this, questions arise: could this be a “salary dependency” on energy companies, and whether this is even under the attention of law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n

However, there is currently no official information about open proceedings in this case – neither in NABU nor in the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Representatives of these bodies do not comment on whether they are checking possible conflicts of interest when it comes to family ties of top officials with key state-owned enterprises in the energy sector.<\/p>\n

Overall, the situation raises troubling questions about the transparency and accountability of government officials, especially when it comes to companies critical to national infrastructure and security. And until there are public explanations or audit results, these questions remain open.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office are conducting a large-scale operation “Midas” to expose corruption in the energy sector<\/a> . According to the investigation, the activities of a high-level criminal organization were established, which controlled financial flows and personnel decisions in state energy structures.<\/p>\n

As reported, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicions against 7 individuals<\/a> involved in a large-scale corruption scheme at JSC NNEGC Energoatom.<\/p>\n

Previously, journalists from “Schemes” identified the names of individuals whom NABU detectives reported suspicious<\/a> to as part of an investigation into corruption in the energy sector, including Timur Mindich.<\/p>\n

By the way, Zelenskyy imposed NSDC sanctions against the co-owner of Kvartal-95 Timur Mindich and businessman Oleksandr Zukerman<\/a> , who are linked to a corruption case in the energy sector.<\/p>\n
