Russia and the United States have discussed the possibility of a new prisoner exchange.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> by Russian special representative Kirill Dmitriev in an interview with Axios.<\/span><\/p>\n

The parties acknowledge that the process will not be quick, but Washington is ready to negotiate. At least eight US citizens are currently being held in Russia, and their return is a priority for President Donald Trump. The Kremlin wants to use the possible exchange as a gesture of “goodwill” and an attempt to improve relations with the new administration, according to the sources.<\/span><\/p>\n

The issue of the exchange was one of the key issues during Dmitriev’s visit to the United States on October 24-26. He met with representatives of the American authorities and people from the Trump team, including Steve Witkoff. However, no agreements have been reached so far, and the parties are not disclosing the names of potential participants in the exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported that US Special Representative Steve Witkoff will fly to Turkey to participate in negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, on October 2, Ukraine and the Russian Federation exchanged prisoners<\/a> – 185 defenders returned from Russian captivity.<\/p>\n
